Music Lessons for Autistic Students

Autism-friendly music lessons in Denton and Flower Mound, plus online. Patient, individualized private instruction for autistic students across DFW.

Private, individualized lessons for autistic students and students with autism, at our Denton and Flower Mound studios or online. Lessons are open to autistic children, teens, and adults. We follow each family's lead on the language they prefer.

Private one-on-one lessons with predictable routines, visual supports, a flexible pace and breaks whenever they help. We communicate in whatever way works for the student, including nonspeaking students and AAC users. Tell us what helps — lighting, sound, seating — and we’ll do our best to set up the room.

Before the first lesson, share what helps — lighting, sound, seating, timing, breaks, communication — in the enrollment notes or by phone, and the instructor will plan around it. Parents and caregivers are welcome to share what works at home.

From there the instructor introduces the instrument in small steps, keeps the pace flexible, and follows the student’s lead. Lessons are month-to-month with no contracts.

We’re music teachers, not music therapists.

Frequently asked questions

Do you teach autistic students?

Yes. NoteWise lessons are open to everyone. Each instructor gets to know the student and shapes pacing, routine, communication and lesson materials around them.

Do you teach autistic teens and adults?

Yes. Lessons are open to autistic teens and adults as well as children. Adult students set their own goals and communicate with the instructor directly, and a support person is welcome to join if that helps. Lessons are planned around the music you want to play and the way you learn best.

Are these music therapy sessions?

No. We're music teachers, not music therapists — we teach instruments, musicianship and performance skills.

How do you prepare for my student's needs?

Before the first lesson, share what helps — lighting, sound, seating, routine, breaks, communication — in the enrollment notes or by phone, and the instructor will plan the lesson around it.

Can you teach a nonspeaking student or an AAC user?

Yes. We communicate in whatever way works for the student, including AAC devices, gestures, writing, modeling and demonstration. Share what your student uses and we'll follow it.

What if my student needs a break during a lesson?

Breaks are always welcome. A student can step away, move, or slow the pace, and the instructor picks the lesson back up when they're ready.

Are lessons private or group-based?

Weekly lessons are private and one-on-one. Enrolled students may also choose to join available bonus classes and performance opportunities.

Can my student keep the same teacher each week?

Yes. Weekly enrollment reserves a recurring lesson with the same instructor.

Which instruments are available?

Piano, guitar, voice, violin, drums, cello, ukulele, flute, saxophone, trumpet and more, for ages 3 and up. Younger students begin with short, play-based lessons.

What is the minimum age for lessons?

Lessons start at age 3, including voice. We match play-based activities, pacing and instrument setup to each student's readiness.

Do we have to sign a contract?

No. Lessons are month-to-month with no contracts, so families can adjust as their student's schedule and interests change.
